Powdered Glass (Frit) for the fused pieces

The raw material is cut to fit the pattern.
The fused pieces are created and every piece of glass is wrapped with copperfoil.

The wine bottle was switched for size & color purposes.
The first layer of glass is soldered below. The bottle is not there yet.

The next phase of soldering involves another layer of grapes, aluminum embossed leaves & vines and the wine bottle.

Custom Transom Project
Each project is unique to the client, the setting and the desired look but the basic principals are the same.
The clients project featured here is a great example of the basic process it takes to design a unique piece of artwork.
The design has a lot to do with the actual window it is going in, the look of the house and what the client desires. Once the design is agreed upon then the window is measured carefully and a template is made of the window opening.
I will work up a basic drawing and submit a rough estimate for approval. Once that is approved then the design is finalized and the glass selection is submitted for approval as well.
Dimensions of the pattern are checked again and then the glass work begins.
Once the glass is cut and ready to be foiled, another approval from the client is needed because once the panel is soldered, it is final.
Depending on the size of the project, it could take 6-8 weeks for the panel to be complete. Larger projects could take more time.
You can elect to have the panel temporarily installed with glass clips (most prefer this method) or permanently installed using the caulking method or wood framing.
